I recently started using a program called Samurize on my work PC.  Samurize is an incredibly versatile program that lets you setup desktop configurations to do just about anything.  You can install plugins to pull data from various sources, write your own, or customize the installed plugins to get whatever you want out of it.  I've tried various configurations before I settled on the one I use now.   I originally set one up as a Google Desktop sidebar replacement, including a ...
